Invisalign in Calgary

Invisalign is a form of orthodontic treatment used to treat crooked or misaligned teeth. Not only are these conditions unsightly, but they can make the cleaning process during an oral hygiene routine difficult. Periodontal disease can be contracted when teeth are not being properly cleaned and patients also have a higher chance of tooth loss, gum loss, and bone loss.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Many people desire to have straighter teeth but are held back because of the metal appearance and discomfort of braces. Invisalign, on the other hand, is a series of clear trays that gradually shift teeth into place. Every two weeks a patient will wear a new set of trays that are manufactured to move the teeth towards their ideal position.

What to Expect During the Treatment Process

First, a patient will take the Invisalign Smile Assessment to see if they qualify for treatment. Once this is done, a consultation will be set up with an Invisalign provider. After the consultation, a digital scan will be performed on the mouth. The doctor will design a customized treatment plan based off of 3-D imaging. Every two weeks, the patient will graduate to a new set of aligners until the teeth have shifted into proper positioning.

Invisalign Treatment Timeline

Treatment time varies depending on the patient, however, the average treatment time for adults is one year. Treatment for teens varies, but the Invisalign provider will work closely with each patient to create a treatment plan customized to their needs.

Invisalign Can Fix a Wide Variety of Dental Problems

Invisalign can correct gapped teeth, overbites, underbites, crowding and more. Failing to treat these conditions can affect dental health, disposing patients to cavities, plaque accumulation, and periodontal disease.

Invisalign Doesn’t Interfere With Your Daily Life

Invisalign is worn as patients go about their daily routine. Unlike traditional braces, there are no food limitations when it comes to wearing Invisalign. Patients simply remove the aligners before eating and then brush before replacing them.
